Navigating ISSF Equipment Inspections: Stiffness, Dimensions, and Clothing Rules

Few things derail an athlete's mental equilibrium faster than failing official Equipment Control an hour before a national competition. Here is what modern inspection juries examine with micrometer precision.

Jacket & Trousers Stiffness Testing

The ISSF uses an electronic stiffness gauge with a 1,000g cylinder weight. The cloth must flex at least 3.0mm under this load. If your canvas jacket has absorbed humidity or was folded tightly during travel, it may register as excessively stiff.

Trigger Weight Regulations

For 10M Air Pistol, the trigger must lift a certified 500-gram weight without tripping. For 25M Sport Pistol, the requirement is 1,000 grams. Always set your trigger 20 to 30 grams above the regulatory minimum to account for differences in range temperature and weighing angle.
